Lee W Robinson & History
Born and raised in the middle of horse country and family farms surrounding the Lexington, Kentucky area, Lee W. Robinson has spent the last 22 years offering his clients a comprehensive range of resources for designing, building, renovating and decorating homes.
Known for his ability to sketch a full rendering of a room in perspective within minutes, Lee has the uncanny ability to create spaces for his clients that reflect their lifestyles while incorporating nostalgic and beautiful pieces that echo his ideal: The Art of Elegant Living.
Lee exudes the essence of bluegrass, southern hospitality steeped in tradition and English pedigree. Known for having his work reflect his clients’ tastes and preferences, Lee personally guides his clients through the process whether it is from the height of glamour and Park Avenue chic, to the anglophile undertones of Virginia horse country, to the clean, modern aesthetic of Soho triplex.
While Lee enjoys helping clients realize their own style, his own preferences run toward English country and dramatic Georgian touches like black-and-white marble floors, rich yellow or red wall coverings, and period porcelains.
In 1984, Lee earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and management and a minor in studio art, and was hired by National City Bank. After a successful 14-year career in banking, lee decided to pursue an idea he had been forming for years to develop a consolidated design company that would offer drafting, remodeling, and design in one place.
In 1999, Lee left the bank to study design at Christie’s and Parson School of Design in New York, and he opened The Lee W. Robinson Company.
Through the acquisition of assets and resource libraries of top designers like Sarah McNeal Few, A.G. Denzinger and Ellen Spalding Tate, Lee’s company has attracted a team with decades of combined experience in the design field.
Lee believes that the rising generation of homeowners will see design as he does: avoiding fads and blending high quality pieces from different styles and eras for a beautiful and personal statement.
