Spring has had us so busy at The Lee W. Robinson Company that we’ve hardly had time to sit still. It started with the Kentucky Derby Festival and moved right into the end of school. Most recently, we’ve been a part of The Chamber Music Festival of the Bluegrass in Shakertown and this weekend we’re proud to be a part of the Rock Creek Horse Show.
There’s something about spring that sets a new stage. Styles and colors change not only in fashion but also in home design. There are some simple ways to alter your home, just a bit, to reflect these updates, without completely remodeling.
Design is softening. Pastels are making their way back into design, but this time in a very luxe way. Think silks and wall coverings. Just recently I saw a room with light pink shantung and light pink leafed paper on the walls.
Modern glamour is not just about shimmer and shine of gold, silver and mirror. A silver leaf base in a cross hatched grasscloth paper can be a nice conduit between old and new. Another way to make a quick update is melding tone on tone amongst fabrics and papers. I’d like to call it a “Modern Serene Glamour.”
A fun thing to do just to add a bit of new is to leave your walls as they are, but to update your ceiling.
A great way to update your space without spending an entire budget is to replace lamps. Seaglass lamps are hot right now, as are mercury candlesticks.
Finally, an update to a light fixture is always an easy fix and can give a room a whole new look. Uber mod chandeliers can add an almost sculptural look to any ceiling. You can even find one at a flea market (or call us for help at 502-895-1401).
